Sunset Hill House Announces Continuing Local Charity Dinner Program Profits from Restaurant to New Hampshire Outdoor Council on May 1, 2009

Sunset Hill House is pleased to continue an initiative designed to donate money for community charities and non-profit organizations. In the Neighbor to Neighbor program Sunset Hill House will give the 100% profits from a night's dining at the acclaimed Restaurant at Sunset Hill to the New Hampshire Outdoor Council.

Sunset Hill House hopes to schedule a series of Neighbor to Neighbor dinners quarterly over the next year, opening the door for local organizations to benefit from this initiative. All guests - not just those invited by the charity, but guests of the inn dining at the Restaurant, and any other diner - are included in the total profit figures, to expand the benefit to the community to the maximum.

The New Hampshire Outdoor Council (NHOC) was formed in 1986 in part as a response to concerns that search and rescue incidents in New Hampshire's backcounty put an unnecessary burden on public resources. The NHOC's work includes educational efforts to encourage visitors to act responsibly, both for their own safety and to minimize the dangers to others, which are always present in wilderness search and rescue. The NHOC is an all volunteer organization, with consequently overhead expenses. The NHOC provides funding support to agencies (especially volunteer agencies), which are involved in search and rescue activities in the Granite State. Funds are obtained through donation; many of the donations are received from individuals who have benefited from the efforts of volunteer search and rescue groups. The New Hampshire Outdoor Council is the only nonprofit organization in New Hampshire that has as one of its regular and most prominent roles of funding to assist search and rescue activities, and to help educate visitors to avoid search and rescue emergencies. The councils 20 years of experience have gained the NHOC recognition as a knowledgeable "third party," ready to assist whenever appropriate.

Those who wish to attend, and support the New Hampshire Outdoor Council, need simply call and make a dinner reservation at the Restaurant at Sunset Hill (603 823 5522) for May 1st, 2009. Since all profits from that evening's activity are contributed to the charity, it is not necessary to specify that you wish to take part, or to dine at any certain time. The entire fine dining menu at the Restaurant at Sunset Hill, both a la carte and the Innkeepers Table, is available to this program, with no restrictions. Reservations are required for all dining at the Restaurant at Sunset Hill to ensure we are ready to welcome guests graciously. This is Sunset Hill House's third year in offering Neighbor to Neighbor dinners. Sunset Hill House has had the pleasure of welcoming guests supporting Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Fund, North Country Home Health and Hospice, Wren, the Boys and Girls Club of Northern NH, AHEAD and the Ammonoosuc Conservation Trust. Donations have ranged from $200 to $1200.

Quietly supporting the community has been inherent in the Sunset Hill House business philosophy for the past 10 years, with cash, lodging, dining and golf donations prioritized to those organizations that show a direct benefit to the local area. On average, Sunset Hill House donates over $10,000 each year to worthy charities, predominantly local groups. The Restaurant at Sunset Hill is a Chaine des Rotisseurs property, and winner of three "best of NH" awards. It also holds three Wine Spectator awards of excellence.
